I have been researching the role of the opposition, as well
as the burgeoning activist and NGO communities in Ukraine
and their attempts to influence the electoral process. I am
also interested in the issues facing mass media and the
broader implications of elections as a vehicle for
influencing political processes, especially when reports of
fraud surface even in the most (arguably) established
democracies. |

My primary field of interest is interfaith relations and
conflict resolution. Within that, I have specialized in
Jewish-Ukrainian relations. In previous trips to Ukraine, I
conducted research on pilgrimage places of three religious
groups: Jewish, Ukrainian-Catholic and Orthodox. Most
recently, I served as an election monitor in the third round
of elections on December 26, 2005. I have compiled a power
point presentation of Jewish holy places in Ukraine,
specifically those associated with the Chasidic movement. I
hope to continue research in the coming years on present day
Ukrainian-Jewish relations as well as historical
documentation of interactions in various periods. |
